Mike Crowther and alternate team partner Mike Hansen, 1st place with a new Lake Powell 5 fish limt of 21.95 lbs. Until Friday night April 29, 2011 these two anglers had never meet each other. As luck would have it Mike Crowther lost an engine on his boat a couple weeks prior to the UBTT 5th event on Lake Powell and thought he would not be able to compete in the April and May tournaments. The word was out that Crowther was on some good fish and needed a partner with a boat. Mike Hansen just happened to check his email stating that Crowther was in need of a partner and was quick to give Crowther a call letting him know that he had a boat ready to go but had never before fished Lake Powell but was excited to give it a try. After a long trip from Cedar City, Utah the two Mikes meet each other for the first time around 10:30 PM Friday night before the tournament. The day turned out to be as Crowther put it " just plain old text book bass fishing"

Returning to the weigh in site early Saturday afternoon the new found friends were all smiles with a huge sack tipping the scales at 21.95 lbs which included the big bass for the day at 6.28 lbs. Yep you guessed it, caught by first timer on the lake Mike Hansen.

Crowther and Hansen reported that they made a long run and had the big limit by 11:00 AM fishing jigs and spinnerbaits in stained water less than 10' deep.

Congratulations on a great performance to a couple of anglers who were complete strangers until now.

Mel and Murph McBride put together a solid 5 fish limit good enough for the 2nd place position with a total weight of 14.35 lbs. This fine husband and wife team are masters at fishing shallow water and are always one of the top teams to beat at any Lake Powell event.

Rick Thornsley and Dennis Cole had a great day on the lake fishing reaction baits to take 3rd place honers with a total weight of 13.77 lbs. Great to see you guys and thanks for dinner Sunday night!
